When you have no baby (yet) but you have a really snazzy diaper bag...use it for travel. Seriously. There are so many amazing inside pockets, so you just remove the extra changing pad and put it in your closet, and stuff the thing full of toiletries, travel Nature Memory and Scrabble Pod, magazines, your flat iron, and a couple of books. Worked like a charm and made me feel better because it was being USED, if not for the purpose intended. That thing is comfy, too, which is helpful for the future when it will be carrying diapers and wipes and bottles o'formula and be balanced out with a baby on my other shoulder/hip. But why stuff it in my closet to gather dust bunnies in the meantime? Excellent travel bag.
We had a glorious weekend getaway in Vermont, and more on that a little later, but it was just the relaxing, delicious-food-and-drink after hiking-and-reading that we look forward to every time we go.
Here is a picture that sums up relaxation and nature therapy in Grafton:

So pretty! I love the reflection of the beautiful sky in the water. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love this shot. I got another one that centered the birch, but it has a little too much finger in it for me to be happy. :) It really is a beautiful place.
DeleteBeautiful shot! And kudos to you for using the diaper bag now, instead of waiting. Glad to hear you had a wonderful time in Vermont!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was wonderful. And man, that diaper bag is great regardless. I had a little pang when I took it out of the closet and replaced the changing pad and wipes with toiletries and magazines, but it felt so good to use it, to not have it empty and sad in the closet until our call comes in.
DeleteAwesome! A good bag makes all the difference while travelling. And it's kind of cool to look forward to when it's used for its intended purpose. Glad you enjoyed vacation.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a lovely getaway. What's funny is the diaper bag is so much nicer than my actual purse... I am not a "bag" person, but I could tote that thing around all the time. But definitely looking forward to using it as originally intended, hopefully sooner than later. ;-)
DeleteBeautiful pics! I'm in the midst of trying to find pursus giganticus, maybeee.... hmm.
ReplyDeleteThank you! This is probably the perfect airplane purse. Huge yet not unwieldy, with tons of places to stash all the things you need to carry on. It doesn't even really LOOK like a diaper bag (until you look inside....then it totally looks like what it is).
DeleteI love reflection photos and yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGreat that you are using your bag now. It's cute!
Thank you! I love reflection photos, too. This one got the blueness of the sky just right. I love my stupid diaper bag, probably because it's so cute. My fashionista friend helped me pick it out, so the kudos go to her, really!
DeleteNature can be so rejuvenating. That's a fabulous bag, for sure! I've always wanted to visit VT.
ReplyDeleteIt really was rejuvenating -- Vermont is one of our favorite places to just relax and enjoy life one minute at a time, one hike at a time, one book at a time, one cup of coffee at a time, one glass of wine at a time... the list goes on and on.
DeleteA beautiful photo from your travels! Looks absolutely gorgeous up there.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so glad you're breaking in the diaper bag now. A very good use too.
Thank you! It is just gorgeous--the early springness of it didn't hurt either! I like the idea of this "breaking in" the diaper bag, getting used to carting it around. It is incredibly versatile, it may get put into rotation if it doesn't get totally inundated with poop and pee and spit-up when used as intended... :)
DeleteFantastic photo. Great purposful use of the diaper bag. They are quite functional. Hooray for getaways, R and R.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes! Hooray for getaways...and functional bags!
DeleteGreat use for a diaper bag! Kinda makes me wish I had one before our son arrived! Oh, I have to admit, I love the sound of a vacation that involves food, drink, hiking, riding. Any napping?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Oh yes, all those things (except riding, I'm terrified of horses). I resisted the napping, but Bryce took a good one on Saturday after our mountain hike. Although it turns out that was because he was coming down with the flu... :(
DeleteCute bag! Glad you're putting it to use while you wait.
ReplyDeleteAlso, tell me more about this Scrabble Pod. Is it a travel scrabble game?
