#Microblog Mondays: Carrying My "Baby"

A moment of joy in the insanity that is the giant baby store where you buy buy...

Meet my "baby" -- a plush football with a plush beachball head (probably the size head I would have produced had I been able), stuffed into the incredibly comfortable Ergobaby carrier I tried on and registered for. Probably a bit lighter than an actual infant (ha!) but in that moment I felt nothing but joy, thinking of the days to come walking around with my baby attached to me, carrying him or her in the only way I am able.

  2. When I was first in BBB, I saw someone brought a doll to try on her carriers. Just before baby was born, my mother sent a box of crap from her attic, which included my old Cabbage Patch Doll, which I used for practicing, swaddling, cloth diapers and my K'tan carrier.

    1. It's funny, we have a baby doll we are borrowing for swaddle and diaper practice, and I ALMOST brought it that day. They actually said that they used to have a baby doll for that very purpose! Oh well, the football/beach ball worked pretty well. :) A Cabbage Patch would be perfect!

  3. You could always knit a hat that looks like the beachball! That would be fun.

    1. That WOULD be fun, what a great idea. Sadly my knitting skills are limited to squares. I haven't even begun to figure out how to do round things. I have knitty friends and family though, so um, hint hint...

  4. I love this picture--it's perfect! I never tried on any carriers, but probably should have. I have the Ergo, Moby, and K'tan. I haven't tried the Ergo (waiting for A to get bigger), but I love the K'tan, it's so easy! The Moby is so much fabric and I've had trouble figuring it out while trying to manage a screaming baby. That, and it's so hot in NC the thought of so much fabric while outside sounds miserable. I'll retry the moby when it's cooler!

    1. Thank you! The Ergo has that infant insert, which comes with this "Bundle of Joy" package. Of course I have no idea how tiny it can be to fit safely and comfortably... The packaging on the K'tan cracks me up, the one with the super glamorous couple that looks dramatic. Moby looked like swaddling and mummifying myself, I can't bring myself to try it. Oh gosh, I didn't think about the carriers and the heat! Good thing I live in Western NY where heat is easily 1/10 of our weather and freezing deathcold is 6/10 at least... :)

  6. I loved wearing my baby! Maybe influenced by the fact that we did donor egg and weren't able to breastfeed, I did everything I could to be close, and wore him most of the time I wasn't at home and slept with him at night. Now at 18 months, he would much rather run around and he wants his own bed and space at night, but baby wearing is the thing I miss most about having an infant. Cute photo!

    1. Thanks! I so look forward to that closeness, and to carrying that baby heaviness. It's kind of like external pregnancy for me, without the swelling and squished organs... :-) I'm glad it felt like good compensation for other losses. That Ergobaby thing is insanely comfortable!
