Sounds like you are focusing on what you can control and that is working on the house to prepare for baby. I also think you are probably much more organized than you give yourself credit. :) You will get there.

Also, I appreciate your answers to the adoption questions on how you are matched. I'd like to know, how did you come to pick your adoption agency? What kinds of things were you looking for? What was important to you? Were their red flags from other agencies or ways you considered for adopting? I am guessing you would not want to name companies, and don't blame you. Just wondering what factors were important in that decision making process.Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06275071143469111072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998166587816121679.post-26672039947200352972015-10-05T14:01:16.976-07:002015-10-05T14:01:16.976-07:00Thanks! This makes me think that maybe I should do an informational post about what those calls will could look like and what steps come next... :)

We are picked by women who choose to work with our agency, but our agency also partners with other agencies and private attorneys looking to find families for their clients as well. So it could be well out of the Western NY range. They often work with Ohio and Florida, but have had increasing out-of-state referrals from hospitals, women's health care centers, other agencies, and attorneys. The reach is wide for sure. I think books are chosen based on grid compatibility and maybe wait times as well, but I am not 100% sure. I should look that up. I know that we receive profile opportunity calls where our grid matched generally but we have an opportunity to say yay or nay based on the specific situation, and then there are calls that are blind profiles where we were chosen in a more last-minute situation but don't know it until we say YES. The possibilities feel kind of endless. :)

Thank you so much, I definitely think keeping busy is helpful. Now I just want to collapse on the couch after a busy day at school, but I guess take advantage of that opportunity while I have it! Naps for mom will be few and far between I'm guessing. :)Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15868505568965284742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998166587816121679.post-3417091679074671792015-10-05T13:56:23.867-07:002015-10-05T13:56:23.867-07:00Thank you for your excitement! So are you only able to get "picked" by an expectant woman if they sign up with your agency? Do adoption agencies connect/work with each other? What is the reach of the your adoption agency (Rochester area? The entire state?)? So the adoption social workers choose which books to show the pregnant women?

It sounds like you are keeping busy which is what I always tried to do during my waits. Keep getting ready for Mystery Baby and hopefully he/she is here soon!Non Sequitur Chicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07268138421234170972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998166587816121679.post-79320867847449067152015-10-03T17:40:10.711-07:002015-10-03T17:40:10.711-07:00Oh boy will it be fun reading about this roller co...Oh boy will it be fun reading about this roller coaster parenthood ride! Oh good, I was thinking the same thing, better do all this now. :) I'm glad it appears that I am organized, I kind of feel like everything is in shambles in reality and super organized in my head, so that counts for something, right?Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15868505568965284742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7998166587816121679.post-23119060348455845402015-10-03T11:47:29.420-07:002015-10-03T11:47:29.420-07:00Glad to hear you are enjoying the preparations and...Glad to hear you are enjoying the preparations and coping well with the wait. You sound very organized. It's much easier to get stuff done around the house before there's a baby around, that's for sure.torthúilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07738803052167620020noreply@blogger.com
